Towbars FAQ
• Do you fit towbars?
Yes. We specialise in towbars, custom built bars, imports and older vehicles. For new and late model vehicles we recommend approaching your franchise dealer first. If they cannot assist, we will be more than happy to meet your needs.
• How long does it take to get a towbar fitted?
This depends on vehicle type. Typically 1 to 2 hours. This can be done at your premises or ours and exact fitting times will be given when you book the vehicle in.
• Can I get a special or custom built tow bar fitted by the mobile unit?
Sorry but all special or custom built towbars need to be fitted at our Manurewa workshop.
• Can the tongue be detached?
Yes. We do fixed, detach and titan hitch towbars (dependant on model).
• Are there any reasons you won’t be able to fit my towbar?
There are very few vehicles that are not approved for towing, so normally no. We have a wide range of bars available and can custom build those we dont have designs for.
• What will my bar look like when finished? Do you have any pictures?
We do in excess of 600 towbar products, so while we may not have a pic of your vehicle we are sure to have one on a similar vehicle/model. You can easily check this in our online catalogue.
• Can I tow more than it says in the handbook?
No. At Best Bars we adhere to the manufacturers ratings only. You can only tow what the load label on the towbar states as maximum, both braked and unbraked.
• Why is my towbar not in stock?
We produce in excess of 600 models. However, due to demand not all models are held in stock. Best Bars caters for these by manufacturing to order in a very short lead-time typically 1-2 days.
• Do you cut my bumper to fit the tow bar?
On some models this is required to achieve a good design. It also allows ample ground clearance and safety. This will be discussed with you if your vehicle requires a bumper cut.
• What is the towing height?
Typically the towing height is 400mm from the tongue top to the ground. This can vary slightly depending on vehicle suspensions and design. |
